NATURAL REGIONS
The state is subdivided into six revenue divisions for administration purposes and into four natural regions as:

  • Konkan - coastal region

  • Western Maharashtra

  • Marathwada region

  • Vidarbha region

150  - 300
 

300 - 600
 

600 - 900
    900 - 1800

Based on the topography of Maharashtra state, the state is further divided as:

  • Coastal strip of Konkan

  • Deccan Plateau.

 
 

River Basins
Maharashtra State is divided into five river basins:

West flowing river Basins 

  • Konkan rivers

  • Tapi Basin

  • Narmada Basin
East flowing river Basins

  • Krishna Basin

  • Godavari Basin
